Good Faith Estimates for Counseling in Houston, TX

You are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate for your counseling sessions. A Good Faith Estimate will be provided after your initial consultation if you decide to schedule.

Under the law, all healthcare providers need to give clients who do not have insurance or are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including mental health services and counseling sessions.

This is called a "Good Faith Estimate," and you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Here are a few key things you should know about your Good Faith Estimate for counseling:

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services from any medical or healthcare provider, including your counseling sessions.

  • You will receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your first counseling session. You can also ask your counselor for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule.

  • You can dispute any medical bill if the bill you receive is $400 or more than your Good Faith Estimate.

  • It's recommended that you save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.
